Laura Overdeck will be our Keynote Speaker and will present at the Celebration Luncheon on Friday, June 10, 2022. Her keynote: Numeracy: The Keystone for a Thriving Society. In 20 years, today’s kids will be taking care of us: building our bridges, measuring our medicines, tuning up our airplanes. We better make sure they can do the math.
Laura Bilodeau Overdeck is the Founder and President of Bedtime Math Foundation, a nonprofit organization that ignites kids’ curiosity and learning by unleashing the fun in math. She is the author of four best-selling children’s books published by Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group. Laura Overdeck also writes Bedtime Math’s daily math challenges at bedtimemath.org and directs a growing number of national partnerships to increase children’s access to kid-appealing math.
Prior to founding Bedtime Math in 2012, Laura Overdeck worked for Stanford Research Institute/SRI Consulting, where she helped high-tech clients build mathematical models to forecast sales for new products. Laura is an alumna and former trustee of Princeton University, where she earned a B.A. in astrophysics. She also holds an M.B.A from the Wharton School and an honorary doctorate from Stevens Institute of Technology. In addition to Liberty Science Center, she serves on the boards of Khan Academy and the Pingry School, and the advisory councils for Princeton’s Department of Astrophysical Sciences, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and New Jersey Governor’s School.
Laure Overdeck lives in New Jersey with her husband John and their three children. When not playing with numbers, Laura likes quantifying the mysteries of chocolate and wine.
