Project Patricia................."Hey Sister…Can you Spare a Pair?”
Young women in Africa are falling behind in their studies because they are unable to attend school during their monthly cycle. WHY, you ask? Because they do not have any feminine hygiene products. They cannot use disposables because they have no way to properly dispose of those articles. All across the United States, women in Methodist churches are busy cutting, sewing and making reusable pads for these young ladies to use. One of the largest obstacles to overcome is that the girls have no underwear in which to place the pads!
So we asked ourselves… ” How can the Delta Kappa Gamma sisters of Alpha Alpha State assist these volunteers in their Herculean effort to assure education can continue for these young women? ”
The question to you, the member is: “ Hey Sister…can you Spare a Pair? ” Can you help us…help those girls in Africa?
We need plain white cotton briefs for ladies in sizes 6,7 & 8 and for girls in sizes 12,14 &16.
On Friday night at state convention …. Please consider donating a package of panties as your admission ticket to the Friday Night Fling! Let ’ s fill our display to the brim with cotton panties that are destined for these young women!
Submitted by Karen Ball, EEC/POW Projects Committee Chairman
Update: The Patricia Project was and outstanding success. We collected over 3,900 pairs of panties. Thank you members!

The International Educational Excellence Committee
The international Educational Excellence Committee is a brand new committee established by the 2010 international convention. Throughout the Society members have raised questions about this new committee and how it intends to carry out the responsibilities assigned to it in the DKG Constitution and Standing Rules. To answer those questions, the Educational Excellence Committee has written the attached article, providing a definition of the Committee’s role and stating its goals for the 2010-2012 biennium.
Members are reminder that the Constitution gives state organizations and chapters the authority to establish whatever committee structure they choose in order to carry out the state organization and chapter level work represented in the constitutional description of the Educational Excellence Committee.
Understand that if state organizations and chapters decide to shift to the international committee structure, they may also choose to adopt the international committee’s definition statement for their respective Educational Excellence committees. In addition, they may wish to have their Educational Excellence committees present programs and spearhead activities that reflect the goals of the international committee. In this way, state organizations and chapters can fulfill their state organization and chapter level responsibilities for the work represented in the constitutional description of the Educational Excellence Committee.
