DKG and Girl Scouts
Sayre Personal Care Home
A few months ago Girl Scout Troop 40551 adopted several of our residents as grandparents. They sent cards and getting to know you letter to the residents, and our residents responded with their own letters to the girls. After a couple months, they were finally able to meet! Pictured here is Joan Moody of Alpha Zeta Chapter.
We are please to announce that Pennsylvania member Bonnie Barnes has been selected to participate in the 2018 Leadership Management Seminar. This seminar will be held in Austin, Texas, on the University of Texas campus July 1-13, 2018. This outstanding leadership training is conducted by the McCombs School of Business Executive Education Department. She was chosen, one of the 30 members worldwide in Delta Kappa Gamma, to participate in this Golden Gift. It is truly an honor that she was selected. Congratulations Bonnie!

Chi Chapter Escaped!
Chi chapter met for an evening social event. We gathered at Escape on Queen in Lancaster to try to solve the mystery and retrieve the flag. Given only one hour in a locked room, we rallied! Great team work...

Marcia Erickson is a member of the 2017 DKG Next Think Tank
She has sailed an important voyage on her Leader-"ship" journey
Our state organization member Marcia Erickson is a member of the 2017 DKGNext Think Tank. She was one of 10 selected from more than 130 applicants.
The group met in Austin at the end of September to consider the present as well as movement to the future of DKG. The conversation was profound—both what all learned about the reality of DKG and what the possibilities are. They identified what they deem valuable and challenging about the Society, and they examined the DKG Purposes and Mission and Vision statements for relevance and application to DKG needs.
An article in the next issue of DKG NEWS cites the substance of the conversations (that were non-stop!) and group and individual commitments to DKG. A group plan is already in motion: to contact state organization presidents to offer a capsulized “think tank” experience for other members. You received an email about that in early October. I encourage you to consider that offer when you plan your next state organization meeting. Individual commitments ranged from writing articles for DKG publications to developing training modules to proposing governing document amendments to translating DKG materials for members whose first language is not English.
Marcia is a significant DKG member. We are fortunate to count her in our membership and among our state organization’s leaders. The Society is fortunate to have the benefit of her energy, spirit, and commitment to Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide. She has sailed an important voyage on her Leader-"ship" journey.
