Five year Plan 2022-2026
Grant Year 2024
The Scholarship Committee of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society
Pennsylvania State Organization established the Scholarship and Enrichment Grant
Five Year Plan for 2022-2026. The Committee set aside $75,000 in the PA State
Organization Scholarship Fund for distribution for scholarships and enrichment grants to eligible applicants over the five years of the plan. The plan is sustained through the local Chapters annual contribution payment of $1.00 per member, the investments of the Pennsylvania State Scholarship Fund, and special honorary and memorial contributions.
The Scholarship Committee requests $15,000 be available to grant to applicants each
year of the plan. If applicant requests and/or committee decisions do not warrant
granting the full $15,000 for any one year, it is recommended that the balance be
applied in the following year or years of the Five Year Plan. The flexibility of the Five
Year Plan adapts to each year’s applicants allowing the Committee to distribute grants and scholarships based on the needs and qualifications of the applicants, not to established allocation amounts.
The recipients of the scholarships and grants must use the award in the fiscal
year following the State Convention in which it was received.
Honorary, Reserve, and Collegiate members are not eligible.
CHAPTER PRESIDENT RECOMMENDATION GUIDELINES CHECKLIST
One of the many duties of being a chapter president in the Delta Kappa Gamma organization is writing letters of reference/recommendation for chapter members that apply for grants and scholarships.
The scholarship committee would like you to address the following items as a guide in your letter of reference/recommendation. When you touch on these areas in your letter, you make it easier for the committee to get a broader picture of the member that is applying for either of these awards.
1. Which of the seven purposes will apply to the scholarship/grant the member is seeking?
2. How has this applicant enriched her chapter? (Has she presented programs to the chapter, worked with hostesses in setting up meetings, the number of meetings attended since she became a member, served as newsletter editor, chapter photographer etc.)
3. How many meetings does your chapter have per year?
4. Has she written any articles for your chapter newspaper?
5. Has she contributed in any fund-raising events for your own Ways and Means/scholarship funds?
6. Has she brought any new members into the organization since her membership began?
7. Has she served within her chapter as a chair/committee member/or held offices?
8. Do you recommend this member whole heartily for this monetary opportunity?
9. Have you emphasized to the applicant that following the specific instructions provided for completing these applications is extremely important?
10. FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS is key to the application being accepted
and the monetary amount awarded.
