Helpful Hints for the 2021 Convention
Here is your opportunity to use your Voice and have a Choice in DKG PA!
Below are some helpful hints to help you be prepared and get the most out of the weekend.
Dress for convention weekend:
Friday – casual
Saturday – Business casual
Saturday Evening – Your Best Dressy (dress or pants)
Sunday – casual/traveling clothes
There is air conditioning at the Hilton Scranton, please dress in layers or bring a sweater, shawl or light jacket
The chorus will be rehearsing throughout the weekend. Even if you did not sign up for the chorus, you can still join in and sing with the group. Just go to their practices!
Evaluations are important! We want to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Before you leave on Sunday, please return your evaluation to the registration table.

Check in for the Hilton Scranton Conference Center is 3:00 PM. Parking in the garage next door or across the street is included with your room.
Check in at DKG Registration, second floor, to get your materials for Leadership and/or Convention. You may wish to put your name on the program in case you misplace it.
Bring your sparkly “bling lanyard” from previous conventions. If this is your first convention, you will get a “bling lanyard “ at registration.
Bring your favorite DKG bag from a previous convention. If this is your first convention, you will get a bag at registration.
Buy chances for the raffle baskets donated by the chapters. There are times throughout convention when you will have time to put your tickets in to win. Some members bring address labels to place on their tickets. Proceeds from the raffle baskets defray the convention costs.
Stop by the Tech Table and learn how to set up your My DKG account and/or DKG app.
Sign up for the Wine Tasting & Antipasto pre-convention experience. Registration is on the Registration form.
Attend the Album of Distinction, presented by our State EEC Committee. At this ceremony, recognition is given to our members’ accomplishments outside of DKG.
Album of Distinction Reception follows the ceremony. Relax with some refreshments from the Pretzel/Chip Station and a non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverage from the Cash Bar. President Eileen’s signature drink, Prosecco, will be available all weekend.
Ice Cream Social, presented by our EEC State Chair, Royce Boyd and the EEC
committee is open to all convention attendees. The ice cream bar (Pre-Register & Pay using the Registration form) and the Cash Bar will be available. Enjoy some genuine spiritual fellowship with your DKG sisters.

All First Timers to the Convention are invited to attend the Complimentary Continental Breakfast. Dr. Marj Paradise, State Second Vice President and Membership Chair and her Membership Committee will help you meet other first timers. Also, you will get to meet State Officers, our International Guest, Connie Rensink and our Keynote Speaker, Kaylyn Gibilterra. Make sure to sign up for the breakfast on your registration form.
Attend the Executive Board and First General Session in the ballroom. President Eileen will be presiding over the society business and Connie Rensink our International Guest will share an update from International.
New this year, In a Flash, sessions. These are 10-minute sessions located in three pre-function areas where the presenter shares a quick tip/information. Check out your program for more information about AM and PM choices.
Attend workshops in the morning and the afternoon. This year there are no Society Business workshops. There are 5 workshops in the AM and 5 workshops in the PM. Lots of choices and many are available for Act 48 credit!
Our Celebration Luncheon is chaired by Royce Boyd, our State First President and EEC Chair. Join in celebrating Birthday Chapters, members with 40+ years of membership. Congratulate any members who has received their doctorate degree. Our Keynote speaker, Kaylyn Gibilterra will present Building Confidence Through STEM Education. Also, Kaylyn will present an afternoon workshop, Online Game Development.
Saturday Evening Banquet is chaired by Dr. Marj Paradise, our State Second Vice President and Membership Chair. This year we honor all our Current and Immediate Past Chapter Presidents. Chair Nancy Schnelli and the State Achievement committee will present the Rosebud Recognition and the State Achievement Award. The State Chorus directed by Nancy Hills, Visual & Performing Arts Chair, will share their talents with us. There will be the Installation of State Officers and singing the DKG song.

The Celebration of Life is presented by Dr. Marj Paradise, Second Vice President and the Membership Committee. It is our time to remember our sisters who have passed away since Convention 2019. It is a beautiful and memorable ceremony.
At the Honors Breakfast, Second General Session, we will share the excitement of those receiving Scholarship and Enrichment Grants presented by our Scholarship Chair, Susan Martin and her committee. DKG PA State Business will be discussed and votes taken at the Second General Session.
