DKG Girl Scout Patch
If you are looking for a project that will allow your chapter to connect with another organization in your community, consider working with a local Girl Scout Troop in earning the DKG Girl Scout Patch.
The first project in San Antonio was developed by members in Zeta Beta Chapter (TX) and involved two local Girl Scout troops. The council patch (it is not a badge, but a council patch) that was developed will remain a SW Texas Council Patch but is available to chapters anywhere upon completion of the project. Therefore, if your chapter chooses to develop a project in your local community, the patches will be available for order through Becky Jennings at the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, rather than through the Girl Scout catalog.
Projects strengthen chapters when all members join together with one focus and support the project. Once your chapter has discussed the possibility and you are ready to commit the time, effort and resources necessary to ensure success for the girls and the project, please contact the Girl Scout council in your local area to find a potential troop. It is crucial that you work through the council in order to ensure that a meaningful and productive collaboration is developed between your local Girl Scout council, the troop leaders and your chapter members.
A sample curriculum, available by email from Nita Scott at Society Headquarters, can be adapted to meet the needs of the troop in your local community. Because the curriculum was carefully considered by both chapter members and the Girl Scout leaders and directors who developed it, you should maintain the identified number of activities required for each scout level.
Chapters outside of the United States might consider connecting with World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to find troops of Girl Guides and USA Girl Scouts Overseas.

DKG BETA PI CHAPTER OF PA AND GIRL SCOUTS
On May 21st, 2018, DKG Beta Pi celebrated the culmination of Girl Scout Troop 7021 earning their DKG Badge! Troop 7021 is made up of Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts. Throughout the winter and spring, the troop worked their way through the DKG Girl Scout curriculum. The troop completed six total activities. First, they researched Dr. Annie Webb Blanton, founder of DKG, and compared her to Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts, citing the similarities in their missions. Second, the troop invited women educators to come to their meeting and learned about the educational professions of Principal, Administrative Assistant, School Board Member, School Librarian, and Teacher. This interactive meeting allowed the girls to not only learn more about the day-to-day activities of each woman, but to ask questions about, and make connections to these professions. The students were responsible for inviting and thanking each woman. Third, the troop collected individual snack packs of food for the Upper Merion Area School District. Each day, at each of the six schools, some students either forget or are unable to provide a snack. With the help of the UMASD district Social Worker, these snacks were distributed throughout the district for students in need! Finally, the troop learned and discussed the Vision Statement of DKG as well as the Girl Scout Mission Statement. The troop celebrated the culmination of this project by having a DKG Jeopardy game (troop against DKG Members)! Way to go girls!
