WOW! Big congratulations to Louann Shrader, who has been asked to serve on the International Expansion Committee and to Shirley Newhart, who will be the International Music Director during this new biennium! These 2 women along with our new International President, Lyn Schmid are such role models for us all! They are wise and talented women and are generously giving their time and talent to serve the Society. Alpha Alpha State is very proud and blessed!
Congratulations, Dr. Lyn. Your installation as International President is a moment that fills our hearts with joy and pride! Your vision and leadership has taken Pennsylvania far, and now you will leave your imprint on the world as you lead us through the next 2 years! Love and support from your PA sisters and friends.
Just returned from Pi Chapter's summer picnic. The speaker was from our local group, Bradford - Tioga Head Start program. Very informative! Of course we shared a picture of all of the chairs at convention with her, and had ours on display for her to see. The photo shows Pi Chapter president, Greta Marie Taft and member Mary Kay Torrey. On Saturday, May 17, I had such a great time with our Tau sisters in the Wilkes Barre area. They have such a good time working together! Their support of Early Career Educators, preparing for state convention, and preparation for the meeting was shared by many, proving many hands make work light and these women made it fun! They know how to "Girl Up", get the job done, and have a few laughs along the way! Thank you Tau sisters!
Well, I am a few days behind. But I do want to send out birthday wishes to the following: May 19, 1962 (A very good year!) - Beta Beta, Beta Gamma, and Beta Delta. Also May 20, 1961 - Alpha Omega. I hope the sisters of these chapters celebrate with joy and passion! Happy Birthday! Last evening, I met some wonderful members from Beta Nu. This is in the Lock Haven area. While the number of members are small, the pride in membership is BIG! They do many local projects and are fortunate to get good publicity from their local newspaper. I do believe we will hear a lot more from these members! Look at these talented women! They gathered together this weekend at the first annual Choral Retreat to prepare for our upcoming state convention. I am told by choral director, Shirley Newhart that the voices were truly in harmony. It is evident from those beautiful smiles that they had a great time and we are in for some very special moments at the banquet. Thank you to all of you for giving your time and your talents. I can't wait to hear the results!
While there was rain in the air, it was definitely NOT dreary in Erie! My recent visit with Gamma, Alpha Iota, and Alpha Omega was a special treat as I chatted with many of the members, installed officers, and shared a few thoughts. These women are as full of promise for a beautiful future as are the flowers that are just beginning to pop through! Erie may have had a cold and snowy winter, but these women were full of passion and warmth as they do the Society's business. PS. Notice the chairs that will be coming to convention to support our state project - Head Start.
I was treated to a Taste of Bedford as I met with Alpha Beta sisters this evening. With a theme of May flowers, their meeting was fun, informative, and full of surprises! The meeting facility was gorgeous, the food was excellent, and everyone was eager to be a part of the business of the Society. Thank you Alpha Beta sisters for allowing me to share in this evening. |
