I just returned from the active and retired teachers’ luncheon at the school where I spent a major part of my career. It was wonderful seeing old friends. I also had the opportunity to spend time with the younger teachers who were preparing for the students to arrive next week. How interesting to see the many changes AND to see some of the things that have remained the same! To all of you who are active teachers, I wish you a wonderful year. You are touching hearts and minds. As Maya Angelou said, “The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to touch hearts is wise.” As a Delta Kappa Gamma sister, I know you well distinguish yourself as a “key woman educator”.
Best wishes to the active teachers beginning their school year. As the key woman educators that you are, you must know how important your job is to our society. You are appreciated and looked up to as a role model.
I would ask that you look around you. Encourage other women to join our ranks and gain the benefit of membership. Doing things together is always more fun than doing it alone. Bring them to your next chapter meeting as a guest and share some laughs!
